Here is another vignette from the series of short films by Jim Jarmusch entitled Coffee and Cigarettes. This episode sees an awkward meeting between Iggy Pop and Tom Waits, which has more of a first date feel about it, making for some very amusing entertainment.
Once again coffee and cigarettes are a recurring theme, with the two characters enjoying a cigarette having both recently given up.
This clip is one of a number of short vignettes from Coffee and Cigarettes, a series of short films written and directed by Jim Jarmusch. Shot in black and white in various coffee houses and cafés, the films’ themes are based on random conversations between strangers, all of whom have coffee and cigarettes in common. Actors include Roberto Benigni, Steve Buscemi, Iggy Pop and Joie Lee.
Topics of conversation range from Paris in the 1920’s and musicians to nicotine as an insecticide and the idea of drinking coffee before going to bed in order to have a fast dream. There are some seriously funny and witty sketches, and if you dig your coffee and cigarettes, or even just the concept of café culture, you’re gonna love it!!
