Liam Gallagher is not a man you could accuse of beating around the bush. Straight talking and to the point, Gallagher tells it how it is, which is why he’s using the same philosophy for a new fashion line he’s just launched.
Pretty Green is described as being up-front and straight talking, a classic clothing range. And if the Oasis star is as talented with fashion as he has been with music then it’s sure to be an instant hit. Check out the documentary video which explains the man behind the name.
I caught this short film at an independent film festival and I just can’t praise it enough; slick, amusing, funky, and packing a punch that would send Muhammad Ali to the canvas.
Written and directed by Laurent Briet, it shows a 10 year old girl going head to head with a professional boxer in a jump rope contest.
Descovering fresh new music is always a real treat, and more so when it’s easily accessible and in this case, free!
Now this is not your everyday mixtape; a sexy combination of flowing lyrics, indie hero Sufjan Stevens and his acoustic guitar, piano and horn combination, and a rich mix of rappers from Outkast to Brother Ali.
Compiled by Montreal-based producer Tor, Illinoize is a real diamond in the rough. You can either download the tracks directly, or listen to the music on the website. I promise you won’t be able to stop listening!
Take a stroll through London and you’re bound to see at least one Banksy artwork. The artist’s distinctive style, a combination of graffiti and stenciling, satirizes modern day culture, politics and ethics, drawing attention to itself by what one might call brazen cheekiness.
For a better look at Banksy and his work, check out the artist’s website. There are some quality photos, as well as examples of some of his sketches and indoor work.
With their new video BlackThinking has gone from the surreal to the downright twisted.
Take a cocktail shaker, add some of Frank Miller’s Sin City, a Jack Daniels commercial and a good dose of Pirates of the Caribbean, shake well and serve straight up. Srange, cool, sexy and very twisted.
The other day I was having a look back at some of the BlackThinking videos posted on this site, and I couldn’t help but think of Alfred Hitchcock.
If you are a student of film or have ever studied film, then Hitchcock will certainly have raised his head at some stage. I remember studying his films at school, such as North by NorthWest and Rear Window.
Well to get to the point, BlackThinking ’s “Always expect the unexpected” screamed of Hitchcock. So I got to digging around the net and found this gem of a clip. A great laugh too!!
This clip is one of a number of short vignettes from Coffee and Cigarettes, a series of short films written and directed by Jim Jarmusch. Shot in black and white in various coffee houses and cafés, the films’ themes are based on random conversations between strangers, all of whom have coffee and cigarettes in common. Actors include Roberto Benigni, Steve Buscemi, Iggy Pop and Joie Lee.
Topics of conversation range from Paris in the 1920’s and musicians to nicotine as an insecticide and the idea of drinking coffee before going to bed in order to have a fast dream. There are some seriously funny and witty sketches, and if you dig your coffee and cigarettes, or even just the concept of café culture, you’re gonna love it!!
This one that I’ve posted for you is entitled Twins and features the one and only Steve Buscemi. Genial!!
This is an advertisment for Bards beer, which has just won Gold for best Copy for the month of March. Every now and then you see a real gem of a beer ad, and I’d have to say that this one is definitely up there. The website is also worth a visit with some excellent media on display. http://adsoftheworld.com/
I can’t remember when I first became aware of free running, or parkour as it’s also refered to. The whole world certainly got a big sniff of what it’s all about after watching Sebastian Foucan in Casino Royale, leaping from crain to crain whilst Daniel Craig breathed down his neck in hot pursuit. French in origin, it has all the cool of a Parisian alley-cat; moving from A to B as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Meanwhile, here in the UK it’s popularity has boomed, with more followers and practicioners greasing britain’s streets than anywhere else Abroad.
There are some quality videos about, with some serious moves and running sequences, not to mention the soundtracks. This one is probably my favourite.
It’s those crazy cats at BlackThinking again, and this time they’ve taken the literal element to a higher level with their new video “Roll and Rock”.
You’re in for a ride with this one. Rock and Roll baby! Or was that the other way around?
