I am not sure if you’re all familiar with this site… but I think it’s brilliant! Francesco Mugnai teaches graphic design and also works as a Web Manager. What’s really cool is this section on infographics, which makes even the “dullest” information seem interesting…

Today’s inspiration comes to us in the form of a short video from The Blackthinking Collection – completely surprising little clip proving DJs will scratch just about anything!
They extracted the colours from 10 million of the most “interesting” Creative Commons images on Flickr. Using their visual similarity technology you can navigate the collection by colour…
What’s really cool is that you can have a selection of colours in your search criteria – what a great tool for any artist!
Feel free to send me your best “palette”… here is an image I found searching six colours…
Doesn’t always make you fall asleep. This is a Samsung viral doing the rounds at the moment: a massive flock of sheep in Wales being led to produce a pretty cool LED display.
Sorry, I can’t resist the temptation of posting ads – but here is something slightly different from the world of digital advertising.
In this case it is about a “shaking advert”, if you click on the link below you get taken to the YouTube channel where Warrior destroys the entire screen with his jumps, shots, attacks, etc…
A connected artist has many sources of inspiration; one of my favourites is the advertisement. If we look around, our world is full of ads trying to attract our attention and arouse our expectations.
Who doesn’t remember our favourite gorilla? The first time that anyone watched this ad they expected something… anything but a gorilla playing drums!
Another good example is this ad for Quicksilver; for a brief moment there is nothing in the screen but a mountain. Again, the expectation…
So, from here on I encourage you to share adverts you consider to be attractive and arty!
I’m experimenting with my new blog, which questions what we feel is inspiring as an “artist”. Any type of artist, whether a singer, novelist, painter or graphic designer needs inspiration as part of the creative process, and I hope the selection of work you find here will help you in some way or another….
I hope to not simply clutter the blog with “cool advertising” but coming from an advertising background it is obviously something I am very familiar with. I do feel we are living in a world full of propaganda, but art can come from anywhere – can’t it?
